Landlords urged to learn about tax changes at Buy-to-let seminar
WE ARE delighted to be working with Cassons LLP to offer Landlords and second home owners the opportunity to find out how upcoming changes to tax and rental profits will affect them.
The free event, to be staged at Moorhouses Brewery in Burnley on Wednesday 10th February will guide buy-to-let landlords through the new legislation, which will alter the way rental profits are calculated and lead to increased tax bills.
Our expert speakers alongside colleagues from Cassons business advisers LLP will explain how the changes, which come into force in April, will impact on property portfolios, and consider the likely effect on the property market.
Simon Westwell, our Lettings Director will offer advice on making the most of the growing rentals marketplace by matching property portfolios to target markets and identify investment strategies to help maximise return.
Our Residential Sales Director Ian Bythell will also consider the future of the residential sales and lettings markets.
Using case studies Colin Tice, Tax Partner and Sinead Duffy, Tax Advisor at Cassons will help landlords understand the possible implications of taxes on rental profits.
They will also talk through the changes to Stamp Duty Land Tax and discuss the benefits of restructuring property portfolios, including changing methods of ownership to buy property through a company.
Simon said: “We don’t just support our clients through the sales process – we always look to add value where we can.
“If you are a Landlord or second home owner – or if you are considering the buy-to-let market, this event will enable you to make informed decisions in terms of managing your portfolio.”
Colin Tice said: “Stamp Duty Land Tax, tax relief on mortgage interest, Capital Gains Tax and allowable expenses will all be affected by the Government changes in April.
“There’s a lot for landlords to consider, and whether you’re already in the buy-to-let market, considering renting out property or have inherited a property which is let, it’s vital to understand the impact these changes will have and take advice to mitigate them.”
The seminar will be followed by a question and answer session with the panel from Cassons and Petty’s.
For more details about the event, which will run from 6pm to 8pm and include a pie and pea supper and an optional tour of the brewery, email [email protected].
